Jury Says State Farm… Not a Good Neighbor
Our client was 23 years old when he was injured in an automobile crash. The insurance company for both the person who caused the accident and our client was State Farm. Our client went to the doctors to treat the herniation and bulges in his neck and back that were caused by the accident. State Farm, his own insurance company, refused to pay the medical expenses that were consistent with their obligations under the insurance contract, even though our client had always paid on time.
Approximately one month prior to trial, State Farm ultimately capitulated and payed the doctors for the reasonable and necessary medical expenses that our client incurred in his treatment being forced to pay interest and attorney fees for their failure to honor their contract obligations in a timely manner.
This past week, Peter Sartes and Peter Tragos litigated against two of State Farm’s best trial lawyers and presented evidence and testimony over the course of four days. The jury returned a unanimous verdict after only an hour and a half of deliberation returning a money judgment and verdict on behalf of our client. The verdict was over 200% more than State Farm’s highest offer.
